A partnership with Sierra Canyon School, Los Angeles

SCAISchool Portugal is bringing to Lisbon’s South Bank the proven excellence of one of America’s leading educational institutions: Sierra Canyon School, Los Angeles. With a forward-thinking curriculum and uncompromising standards, we are redefining education here in our new home, Portugal. Our phased opening begins with the Early Years (ages 3–5), creating a warm, inspiring foundation from which the school will continue to grow year by year.

Welcome to Sierra Canyon School Portugal!

An IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) community where curious learners, dedicated educators, and visionary leaders work in partnership to nurture every child’s potential. Through inquiry-based learning, student agency, and authentic, hands-on experiences, children explore meaningful concepts in the classroom, on the stage, on the playing field and court, and through real-world connections beyond campus.

Grounded in shared values with our sister school, we empower students to become caring, principled, and open-minded individuals who take action in their communities. Our learners develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to thrive in an ever-changing world, prepared not only for future academic success, but also to lead lives of purpose, empathy, and impact as global citizens.

OUR VISION

A place where every space can spark discovery

In our school, we aspire to build a multicultural educational community, where students, from ages 3 through 18 can grow with confidence, curiosity, creativity, and the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving global world.

We believe learning should be personal, meaningful and grounded in a deep understanding of how children learn best. By embracing innovation and making smart use of technology, including AI, we tailor education to the individual needs of each student, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, creativity and a lifelong love of learning alongside strong academic achievement.

We imagine school as a place where every space can spark discovery. Classrooms, outdoor areas, libraries, maker labs, black box theatres and digital studios all become opportunities for students to explore, collaborate, and express themselves.

Mission Statement

Sierra Canyon School is an academically excellent, college preparatory school committed to an empowering environment in which students realize their greatest creative, ethical, intellectual, and physical promise. We are defined by an energized, attentive, and diverse student-teacher culture. Sierra Canyon School is a special place to grow for the challenges of a fast-changing world.

Our Core Values

Excellence

Sierra Canyon School embraces academic and personal excellence, wherein each student is treated as an individual and has the opportunity to strive and attain his or her best. Excellence is not a single standard held aloft, but rather something to be measured from within each member of the community and celebrated by all

Integrity

Students develop a strong moral base and ethical understanding as members of a principled learning community. They are encouraged to act with honesty, respect, and compassion.

Community

Close, meaningful student-faculty relationships further both the intellectual pursuits and the process of personal development. A strong sense of community prevails, along with an understanding of the commitments and responsibilities such a community requires from each individual in order to thrive

Independence

Students are given increasing independence and responsibility for their own learning in order to foster intellectual curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Consequently, they have many opportunities to grow and thrive both as individuals and as leaders within the school community.

Perspective

Academic and extracurricular programs encourage the broadening of student perspectives and provide an exposure to both the surrounding community and the wider world. Experiential learning opportunities form a healthy, challenging part of Sierra Canyon School's program.
